Shopping and Payment Terms

Dialogue 1

-Can we make payment by D/A?

-I'm sorry.We generally only accept payment by D/P or irrevocalbe letter of credit payable 1 against shipping 2 documents.

-If that is the case,we'll have to follow your convention.

-Thank you.And could you send us the L/C 30 days in advance?On receipt of your L/C we'll make the necessary arrangement for theshipment.

-OK.We'll instruct our bank to open an irrevocable documentary letter of credit in your favor.

-That's all right.Thank you.

Dialogue 2

-I have to apologize.The medical instruments you've ordered are very popular in the market.I'm afraid we can't give you 50 pieces at one times.

-Then how many are available now?

-Maybe 20 pieces?

-But the 10% discount~

-We can still give you 10% off.

-That's OK.

-Then you can open the relevant letter of credit now.We'll make preparation for delivery.

-We'll open it right now and send it through our bank.

-We'll dispatch the goods as soon as we receive it.

Dialouge 3

-I wonder if we could make payment for this complete set of equipment by installment 3.

-We all do it on the basis of L/C for new customers,but for old customers,we could do it by way of installment.

-That's good.

-In that case,I think a guarantee from a bank covering the payment is necessary.We also want to know what kind of installment payment you have in mind.

-I don't know very clearly about your policy.What we'd like to do is to make a down payment firstly .After the delivery,we'll pay off the rest in 3 payments every two months.And we can ask Bank of China to give some kind of guarantee.

-That's OK.

Dialogue 4

-We hope you could effect shipment early in August so that we can receive the goods by September.

-After signing the contract,we'll register at the shipping company immediately and plan on delivery.

-And please effect shipment as soon as receiving our L/C.

-Under the conventions of Letter of Credit against shipping documents,there's a restricting statement referring that the goods can be allowed to be more or less within a total of 3%.

-But this more or less percentage does not aplly to the goods calculated in units of package or dozen.

-Oh,no.I made a mistake.OK,we'll effect shipment in August on receiving your L/C.

Dialogue 5

-How do you plan to pack our order?

-The standard packing.For this kind of products we export,every two dozens are packed in a paper carton,then we pack 10 cartons in one big wooden case.

-The key isue is to make sure that the packing is seaworthly.Of the last goods we received,there were a few items damaged by dampness.

-Yes,we've noticed that,too.But this time each wooden case is lined with plastic sheets from inside,in addition,we've put a "keep dry" sign on the outside.

-I guess that'll be good enough.

Dialogue 6

-We should have received the medicines early in September according to our agreement.But we haven't heard anything about it up till now.

-We didn't expect there would be such a great demand of ship at this time of the year.We usually book the ship two weeks in advance,and that will do.Please allow us one or two weeks more.

-But the goods are of a strong seasonal 4 nature.If we miss the season,we'll take a big loss.

-I'm really sorry.But please understand that we're under a heavy pressure,too.

-Yes,I know.We're old friends.But in this situation,we can do nothing unless the goods reach us as soon as possible.I think you have to ship the items by air cargo 5 in containers.

-OK.That's the only thing we can do now.
