It is Friday. I amK. This is CNN student news. Today we are going from the Gulf 1 of Mexico to the PersianGulf, and from marine 2 mischief 3 to Finland /. First start though, shut down.

No budge 4 in the governmentbudget crisis on Thursday. The president and the democrats 5 are on one side, republicanson the other. Wednesday evening, congressional leaders from both parties metwith President Obama at the White House, the result, no result. This partialgovernment shut down has to do with different views on government spending. Butthe anger about the president’s healthcare reform loan, commonly known as Obamacare, is involved here too. There is another potential battle looming 6 in Washington. The country’s debt ceiling is the next subject and a deadline for that isgetting closer.

Now let’s take alook at e next big hurdle 7: a debt default. It is really critical that the UnitedStates continues to pay its bills on time. When you don’t pay your bills ontime, what happens? Your credit rating goes down; it will cost more to borrow money; It cost more to service the debt you already have. If the US would defaulton its bills, because on October 17th, it will got 30 billion cash on hand, and many much much more than that coming, turns into bills too. If theUS would default interest rates form sky rocket, the stock market could slide. It would hurt job creation again. Again a very fragile time again many casts say couldthrow the economy right back in to a recession.

There is a storm growingthe Gulf of Mexico, just recently formed between Cuba and Mexico’s / peninsular. When we put the show together the system was a tropical storm, tropical storm Karen.Forecasters were saying, it was almost certain, it would strengthen to a hurricane. As the project past shows it headed for the US gulf coast, likely makinglandfalls somewhere between Louisiana and Florida /. That could happen Saturdaynight. So if you live in that area, please keep an eye on the local forecast.
