The dogs were hitched 1 and he started, hoping to reach Safety, the station thirty-four miles away, before the trails were too deeply buried under the fast-falling snow. 狗狗们被拴起来，卡森希望能在大雪把道路完全封住之前到达赛弗提驿站，距离此处34英里。
