A qualifying round shall be held in field events
in which the number of athletes is too large to allow the competition
to be conducted satisfactorily in a single round (final).
When a qualifying round is held, all athletes shall compete in,
and qualify through, that round.

If subsequently an athlete wants to make any changes,

运动员可要求将横杆向落地区方向移动，这样距离是从横杆最接近运动员边缘处测量到插斗末端为止，横杆向落地区方向的移动距离不得超过80厘米。
运动员应在比赛开始前将自己第一次试跳需要采用的移动距离通知有关裁判员，这个移动距离应该被记录下来。此后，如果运动员要求改变移动距离横杆，应在按原要求调整好横杆位置之前立即通知有关裁判员。
