The aim of a Flatwater Racing 1 competition
is for people to race each other in kayaks and canoes
over a clearly defined unobstructed course
in the shortest possible time according to the rules.
Only the members of clubs or associations
affiliated 2 with an ICF National Federation 3
have the right to participate in an international competition.
At least three kayaks or canoes
must be entered before the race can be held.
If the number of entries in races up to and including
1000 meters is so great that heats are necessary,
the number of kayaks or canoes in each heat
and in the final must not exceed nine (9).
