The Greater Mekong Subregion Economic Corridor Forum 1 was held in Kunming, South China's Yunnan province on Thursday.
The forum was co-hosted by Chinese Minister of Commerce Gao Hucheng and Vice-President of the Asian Development Bank Stephen Groff. Ministers and senior officials from the six Greater Mekong Subregion countries also attended the forum, which is tasked with realizing the achievements of the last leaders' summit in 2014.
The countries are attempting to transform the area from a transportation corridor to an economic corridor, and deepen the participation 2 of regional governments and enterprises in economic cooperation.
The forum also aims to promote China's "one belt, one road" initiative to its neighbouring countries.
