The response to the earthquake in Sichuan has been swift. As Li Qiong reports, medical and search workers have joined hands to treat the injured and care for the tens of thousands affected 1.



It’s Day 3 since the quake rattled 2 Kangding county.



A further eight patients have been sent to the local hospital with minor 3 injuries... bringing the total number of injured to 57. One of them is in critical condition.

Extra medical supplies have been shipped in, and doctors say the patients are receiving the care they need...



"Our hospital is fully 4 capable of treating all the patients," said Chen Bitao, Garze People's Hospital.



Meanwhile, two drones have been dispatched to gather clearer images of villages in the quake-hit areas. Initial assessments 5 had found over 2,600 houses seriously damaged during the quake. The houses are being checked one by one to ensure none pose a threat to residents.

The local government has sent tents, quilts and food to affected area... with thicker tents on the way to fend 8 off the cold.
