字根 cad,cas,cid 源自拉丁文 cadere v., 有 fall 之意. cas 的拼法来自 cadere 的 过去分词 casurus,cid 则来自过去简单式 的 cecidi. 这个字根组成的单字,带有 [ 降落] 意义的占小部份,如 cascades 2 [小 瀑布] 和 decadence 3 n.
