CCTV9英语新闻：中国军方誓言要清理腐败

The efforts to strengthen the rule of law cover all sections of society, including the military. China's People's Liberation Army says it will work harder to clean up corruption 1 and promote the rule of law in national defense 2. It comes after a string of recent high-profile corruption cases, within PLA ranks.

On Tuesday, the former vice 3 chairman of the Central Military Commission, Xu Caihou, confessed to taking bribes 4. Military prosecutors 5 have started procedures to file a case against him.

Last week, the deputy commander of the PLA's Chengdu Military Area, Yang Jinshan, was expelled from the Party for "serious disciplinary violations 6".

Last month, the PLA announced new details of its anti-corruption efforts since the start of the year. Military and armed police officials and their families are now only allowed to occupy one military residence in a single city and that home must be of an "appropriate size", determined 7 by rank. Retired 8 officials and the families of deceased military officials will also have to give up military residences which are deemed non-necessary.
