考研翻译基础－－正译与反译

英语和汉语中均有从正面或反面来表达一种概念的现象。就像我们常说的“Excuse me!”
我们常译成“对不起”，就是英语正面表达而汉语则采用反面的表达。下面我们就来详细的看看这种翻译方法吧。
一、 正反表达――英语从正面表达，译文从反面表达。
例1：The first bombs missed the target.
解析：miss原义是“错过”。是一个表达肯定意思的词。
译文：第一批炸弹没有击中目标。（脱靶）
例2：We may safely say so.
解析：safely是副词，表示“安全地”这里可以反过来表达。
译文：我们这样说万无一失。（错不了）
例3：His refusal is not final.
解析：final是“最后的，最终的”，可这样译的话就有些不像汉语啦：）
译文：他的拒绝不是不可改变的。
例4：This problem is above me.
解析：above是“在…这上”，这个问题在我上面，即我不能超过的意思。
译文：我问题我不懂（解决不了）。
例5：My guess is as good as yours.
解析：我的猜测和你的一样好，也没有错，只是语气上有点像是自夸，可以试着换种说法。
译文：我的猜测并不比你高明。
二、 反正表达――英语从反面表达，译文从正面表达。
例6：The man jumped over a neighbouring garden wall and disappeared among the crowds.
解析：disappear是英语中否定的表达形式，而汉语中常译成“消失”。
译文：这个家伙从邻居的花园墙头上翻了出去，在人群中消失了。
例7：He carelessly glanced through the note and got away.
解析：carelessly原本否定，即不注意的，而我们常译成“马马虎虎”。
译文：他马马虎虎地看了看那张便条就走了。
例8：Hilter’s undisguised effort to persecute 1 the Jews met with the world-wide condemnation 2.
解析：undisguised是否定的，意思是“不加掩饰的”，但有时也可以正着说。
译文：希特勒对犹太人的露骨的迫害行为受到全世界的遣责。
例9：Don't lose time in posting this letter.
解析：划线部分是别浪费时间，可用在这里，若这样说有些不简练，显得啰嗦。
译文：赶快把这封信寄出去。
例10：Such flights couldn’t long escape notice.
解析：这种飞机不会很久逃避注意的。是不是有些说得不明白。
译文：这类飞机迟早会被发觉的。
其实这种翻译的方法我们经常在不经意的时候一直使用着，只是没有注意到，但是当在一些复杂的句子中就想不起来了，这就是我们这节课的目的所在。
练习：
1． Such a chance was denied me.
2． The boy is quite clever. ------ Exactly.
3． He’s not stupid, merely ignorant.
4． I will not go unless I hear from him.
5． It’s beyond his power to sign such a contract.
6． The doubt still unsolved after his repeated explanations.
7． He was an indecisive sort of person and always capricious.
8. Students, with no exception, are to hand in their papers.
答案：
1、 我没有得到这样一个机会。
2、 这孩子很聪明。―――一点不错。
3、 他并不愚笨，仅仅是无知而已。
4、 如果他不通知我，我就不去。
5、 他无权签订这种合同。
6、 虽然他一再解释，疑团仍然存在。
7、 他这个人优柔寡断，而且总是反复无常。
8、 今天下午学生统统要交作业。
- They persecute those who do not conform to their ideas.他们迫害那些不信奉他们思想的人。
- Hitler's undisguised effort to persecute the Jews met with worldwide condemnation.希特勒对犹太人的露骨迫害行为遭到世界人民的谴责。
- There was widespread condemnation of the invasion. 那次侵略遭到了人们普遍的谴责。
- The jury's condemnation was a shock to the suspect. 陪审团宣告有罪使嫌疑犯大为震惊。
