Stress sucks. It can affect your body and mind. Previous research has shown that stress can even hinder 1 our ability to remember. But this study typically focus on one stress at a time. What happens when we face multiple stresses. Researchers looked upon snails 2, often used in memory research. They trained the snails to reduce half frequently they breathe out of water. They then tracked whether snails remember their training after being stressed. The snail's memory was considered untact and reduce third attempts to breathe when they were  moved from water. Two common stressers , low level of calsium necessary for strong shells and overcrowding by other snails, can happen in a combination  in the wild. Individually, these stresses only block the formation of new long memories in the snails, but combined, they cause the snails to forget their training. THat means they prevented any new memories being formed. The study is in the journal Plus ONe. It is thought that these snails and mammals have similar responese to  stress. Of course, when stressed out, we should remember  breathe more, not less.
