That was the president of Knicks. He wanted me to fly up right after the press conference, and try for the general manager job.

That's the nineteen years I'm announcing my retirement 1 from professional basketball. It's now the time for me to begin my new life. I would like to thank my mother and father for their support and guidance. I would like especially thank my father, because without him, I wouldn't be here today. eg. Her work is to take care of the children.

6. put up with

忍受；容忍；

eg. They had put up with behaviour from their son which they would not have tolerated 6 from anyone else.

eg. He had to put up with a smart rebuke 7 from the teacher.
