第一个是: stick one's neck out。

1:Okay, I'll stick my neck out one more time and ask the boss to give you another chance, but if you get yourself in hot water again, you'll have to find your own way out - understand?

2:During his campaign 1 in 1988 Mr. Bush 2 really stuck his neck out when he promised he would never raise taxes. Then, two years later it hurt him politically 3 when he had to raise them.

我们再学个习惯用语: neck of the woods。

3:I don't think I've ever seen you around here, stranger. Tell me, what neck of the woods do you come from?

这里neck of the woods意思就是某一地方。

4:Friend, I see you come from Iowa. You know, I'm from Iowa too! What neck of the woods do you come from back home? - Anywhere near Oscaloosa? I live on a farm near Oscallosa myself.

这儿neck of the woods也是指特定地点。
