After this, Jack 2 and his mother had all the money they wanted. 在这之后,杰克和他妈妈得到了他们想要的钱。
But the lad remembered the story which the fairy had told him. 但是小男孩仍记得仙女告诉他的故事。
He could not forget the magic harp. 他不能忘了神奇的竖琴。
"Mother," he said one day, "I must go back to the castle and get my father's harp." 有一天,他对妈妈说:“妈妈,我必须回到城堡拿到爸爸的竖琴。”
So the boy climbed the beanstalk and went to the castle a second time. 于是男孩爬上仙豆,第二次来到了城堡。
The giant's wife did not know that this was the same lad who had taken the magic hen, 巨人妻子不知道他就是那个拿走魔法母鸡的小家伙,
for Jack was much taller now. 因为杰克现在长高了。
So she let him in again, and when she heard the giant coming, she hid the lad in the cupboard. 于是她再次让他进去。她听到巨人回来时,把男孩藏在了碗柜里。
The giant came into the house. 巨人进了房子。
"I smell a boy," he roared 3 in his deep, gruff voice. 他用粗哑低沉的声音咆哮着说:“我闻到了男孩的味道。”。
"You smell only the fat sheep I have cooked for you," said his wife. “你闻到的是我为你烹制的肥羊味,”他的妻子说,
"You are hungry. Sit down and eat your dinner". “你饿了,坐下吃饭吧。”
After the giant had finished eating, he roared, "Wife, bring the magic harp!" 巨人吃完饭后,嚷道:“老婆,把竖琴拿来!”
The woman carried in a beautiful harp with strings 4 of gold. 女人拿来了带着金弦的漂亮竖琴。
"Harp," said the giant, "play for me!" “竖琴,”巨人说,“为我演奏!”
At once the sound of soft, sweet music filled the air. 轻柔甜美的音乐立即充斥了空气。
Never had Jack heard such wonderful music. 杰克从未听过如此美妙的音乐。
He wanted more than ever to get the magic harp. 他比以往任何时候都更渴望得到竖琴。
The giant listened for a long time. At last he fell fast asleep in his chair. 巨人听了很久。最后,他在椅子上睡着了。
While the giant slept, the boy crept 5 quietly out of the cupboard and took the harp in his arms. 巨人睡着时,小男孩悄悄从碗柜里爬出来,把竖琴抱在怀里。
But as he ran through the castle door, the harp called out, 但当他跑过城堡的门时,竖琴喊道:
"Master! Master! Wake up! Wake up! Save me! Save me!" “主人!主人!醒醒!醒醒!救我!救我!”
Up jumped the giant. He ran after Jack faster than the wind. 巨人跳起来。他追赶杰克的速度比风还快。
But as he ran, the giant fell over a stone. 但他奔跑时,被石头绊倒了。
Before he could get up, Jack was at the bottom of the beanstalk. 在他起身前,杰克到了仙豆底部。
"Mother! Mother!" cried the lad. "Quick! Bring me the ax 6!" “妈妈!妈妈!”小男孩叫道。“快点儿给我拿把斧子!”
His mother handed the ax to Jack. Quickly he took the ax and cut down the beanstalk. 他的妈妈把斧子递给他。他快速拿了斧子把仙豆砍倒。
Over it fell, and Jack was safe! 仙豆一倒,杰克就安全了!
Just then he saw the fairy standing 7 beside him. 就在这时,他看到了站在他身边的仙女。
"You are a brave boy," she said. “你是个勇敢地孩子,”她说,
"Now you and your mother will always be rich and plenty of everything." “现在,你和你妈妈永远都会富有,拥有一切。”
