第一个习惯用语是:smart as a whip。

1:Everybody says Tony is smart as a whip. He knows exactly what he can expect from the bureaucracy 3 and how to get what he wants without the usual delay or trouble.

2:You are not only smart as a whip; you're also good with people. Those are the things that make a good manager. The office needs someone who has both a brain and a heart.

这里的smart as a whip, 意思也是聪明灵活。

3:Old Mr. Lee put his son and daughter to work in the factory he owned but he never let them have any responsibility because he wanted to hold the whip hand over them as long as he lived.

4:If you haven't heard about Internet, this new computer network, you belong to the buggy-whip age. Internet has millions of subscribers around the globe now.
