例句-1:Our kids Bill and Susie nickel-and-dime my wife and me to death. It's just a few dollars every time, but it never stops and after a while it adds up to so much money it makes quite a hole in our pockets.

2:He has a little nickle-and-dime business that makes just enough money to put food on the table and pay the rent.

今天要学的第二个习惯用语是: not worth a plugged nickel。

例句-3:After Tom bought the car, he had all sorts of trouble with it. Now he's trying to sell it, but it's not worth a plugged nickel. It's in such bad shape, he says, he could park it and leave the key in the ignition and a car thief wouldn't bother to steal it.

今天要学的第三个习惯用语是:don't take any wooden nickels 3。

Don't take any wooden nickels这个习惯用语如今常用在老朋友间的告别场合,是句半开玩笑、半认真的告别语,相当于“你多保重”之类的话。

4:Okay, Charlie, they're calling your flight. We'll see you in a couple of months. So long, pal 4, and don't take any wooden nickels!
