[00:27.77]Many people closely follow the political polls

[00:34.43]during the final weeks preceding an important election.

[00:37.81]有许多人密切关注着此次重要选举前最后几周进行的民意调查。

[00:41.20]But how do these polls ac-tually work?

[00:44.02]但民意调查到底是怎么一回事呢?

[00:46.84]Polls are surveys of a relatively 1 small number of peo-ple

[00:54.31]compared to the actual number who will vote.

[00:57.29]它是为了在最后投票前确定谁可能在选举中获胜

[01:00.26]They are an at-tempt to determine who may actually win an election

[01:08.21]in advance of the final vote.

[01:12.65]Let's say 100 million people are expected to vote in the general election.
