【情景再现】
Catherine今天将公司的一个重要项目交给了自己的一个下属，这位下属由于工作繁忙，又把这个项目的准备工作交给了秘书来筹备。Catherine对秘书不大放心，她的下属就向她保证说：She will go the whole hog 1 in planning the program.
She will go the whole hog in planning the program.她会全力以赴筹办项目的。
go the whole hog这个俚语源于十七世纪的英国，当时英国人称一先令（shilling）为一个hog，而一个hog能买不少东西，go the whole hog就是一次把一先令全部花掉，后来就引申为“彻底地或完全地做某事，干到底”。例如：If we start it, we shall go the whole hog. 要是着手干的话,我们就干到底。
