Catherine上班好几个月了，她与公司的经理成了无话不谈的好朋友。当别人问她成功的秘诀时，她总是说一句：I got ahead of the game by finishing my work early.我因提早完成工作而领先他人。因为这是她跟一个外教新学的短语。
Catherine: Do you know what I mean?
凯瑟琳：你知道我的意思吗？
Tom: Not quitely. You said "game", I can't see why it has anything to do with your work.

Catherine: "Game" can be used in every field, especially when talking about one's work.
凯瑟琳：game这个词可以被用在任何领域，尤其是谈论到人的工作时。
I got ahead of the game by finishing my work early.我因提早完成工作而领先他人。
game这个词通常指的是比赛，ahead of the game就是“在比赛中领先”的意思，不过这种意识已被应用到生活的各个领域，不仅仅单指比赛了。所以当某人在某件事上领先时，都可以说那个人get ahead of the game。如果要进一步说明是如何领先的，通过什么样的方式领先的，则要在后面用介词by。例如：I got ahead of the game by finishing my work early.我因提早完成工作而领先他人。
