各位亲爱的朋友们,欢迎来到早间课堂第二系列《抛招接招》小节目,我是Juliet。
 
我们去听演唱会,歌唱家动情的演绎以及高超的歌唱技巧我们会鼓掌欢迎。我们去欣赏芭蕾舞剧,一看到演员的36个挥鞭转我们就禁不住拍掌叫好。还有在旧时的戏院里,角们高超的唱功和坐功是博得满堂喝彩。
 
那么在今后的3天内,我将抛给您说“欢迎”的招数,每日一招说“欢迎”。这个欢迎是指对笑谈,建议,演出,演讲等等这个意义上的“欢迎”,而不是指Reception(接待)上的欢迎。那么,今天说“欢迎”的招数是什么呢?请听:
 
抛招1:That new comedian 1 is very funny, he brings down the house wherever he appears.
 
那位新的喜剧演员非常有趣。不管他到哪里演出,总是博得满堂喝彩。
 
抛招2:The soprano's soaring aria 2 brought down the house.
 
那位女高音的响彻云霄的咏叹调博得了满堂喝彩。
 
接招:在上面的2个例句中都用到了同一个词语:bring down the house。这是一条动词性习语。习语中的bring down这个短语是“使倒下”“使倒塌”的意思。这里的house一词并不指一般的房屋住宅,而是指用作公开演讲、艺术演出的场所。Bring down the house意思就是使房屋倒塌,使房屋倒下,用之比喻十分成功的演说或演出等等而让全场观众赞叹不已,为之倾倒。这也是我们中文口语中说的“博得满堂喝彩”,也是我们书面上用的“博得热烈鼓掌”“掌声雷动”。
