抛招1：The boys said they has smashed 1 the windows just for the hell 2 of it.
男孩子们说他们打破窗子只是为了好玩。
抛招2：Asked why he had beaten up a compete stranger, the young man replied he has done it just for the hell of it.
问那个年轻人而你什么打一个素不相识的人，他回答说就是为了寻开心。
接招：在以上2个例句中都用到了同一个词语：just for the hell of it。这是一条副词性短语，在句中作目的状语。短语中的just是“就是，只是”的意思，起到加强语气的作用。介词for表示“原因”。短语the hell是“究竟”的意思。It 是指代句子中的事件。 Just for the hell of it连在一起意为：仅仅为了取乐，只是为了好玩（寻开心、瞎闹）等等。
下面我们再通过3个例句来熟悉这个短语的意思。
1. We went swimming at midnight just for the hell of it.
我们深更半夜去游泳，只是为了好玩而已。
2. They stole the car just for the hell of it.
他们偷这辆汽车只是为了寻求刺激。
3. I've never acted before but I thought I'd give it a try just for the hell of it.
