我们先来听三个句子：
1. In a flash the evil intent of the vice-president usurping 1 power hit the president right between the eyes.
2. Let us suppose that Mary hit John right between the eyes, what will he do? It's no doubt he wants to spend all his time with her and get to know about her better.
3. Mr. Monotone hit me right between the eyes with that shot,but I don't know about the other dozen people in the audience.
这三个句子中都有一个共同的短语是hit sb right between the eyes，毫无疑问我们的疑问就hit us right between the eyes（茅塞顿开了）。
下面我们来看一下刚才的三个句子:
1. In a flash the evil intent of the vice-president usurping power hit the president right between the eyes. 一刹那间，副总统篡权的罪恶意图给总统当头一棒。
In this sentence, "hit sb right between the eyes" means "to give sb a big suprise". 这句话中hit sb right between the eyes意思是让某人非常吃惊。这也就是“结舌瞪目”的意思。
注解1：flash [flæʃ] 一刹那 in a flash 瞬间, 即刻, 非常突然 Eg. I didn't get the number of the car that knocked you over. It was gone in a flash. All I know is that it's a big, brown car. 我没有记下撞倒你的那辆汽车的车号，它一下子就开走了，我只知道那是一辆棕色的大轿车。The answer came to her in a flash of inspiration. 她突然来了一阵灵感，答案想出来了。In a flash, the truth came to him. 突然间，他明白了真相。（sth comes to sb 某人脑海里想到了某事物 ）
注解2：evil ['i:vl] adj.邪恶的 intent [in'tent] n.意图，意向，目的 evil intent 恶念 邪念 vice-president [vaisˈprezid(ə)nt] n.副总统；副会长
注解3：usurp [ju'zə:p] v.篡夺, 霸占, 篡位Eg. Henry IV usurped 2 the throne of England.亨利四世篡夺了英国的王位。 usurp power 篡夺权利
