情态动词can和be able to, may


1.情态动词can 和be able to


can 和be able to 都可以表示有某种能力,但can只能用于现在时和过去时(could),而be able to 可以用于任何时态。


I can do this job. 我能做这个工作。


I will be able to do this job soon. 我很快就能做这个工作。


如果表示“成功地做了谋事”时,只能用was/were able to,例如:


He was able to flee the country before the war broke out. 在战争爆发之前,他成功地逃离了这个国家。


2.情态动词may


may 表示允许或请求,和没有把握的推测。当may放在句首,表示祝愿。
