New studies show that attractive 1 women who date less attractive men have better relationships. This is because most men stress the importance of beauty while most women stress being treated well. In general, such couples are more supportive1 of each other, and they enjoy being together more. The studies also discovered that one out of every three couples fits this description2.

Studies show that when the man in a couple is more attractive, the couple offers each other less support. The amount of support a woman gives depends on how supportive her boyfriend is. More attractive men often think they can have prettier girlfriends. Therefore, they have no interest in keeping their relationships strong. Less attractive men with beautiful girlfriends think they are getting more than what they deserve 2. As a result, they work harder to keep their girlfriends happy.

It seems that an uneven3 match4 is the best match. For a relationship to work, two people don't need to have the same good looks. However, they must have the same amount of respect, love, and commitment5 for each other.

Beauty and the Beast
