N: more and more Chinese are marrying foreigners.
S: that's true. But I have a low opinion of those women who go out with foreigners.
N: oh, why?
S: I think some Chinese wonem marry foreigners for money while others just want to live abroad. There is no true love between them.
N: I wouldn't say that's totally true. I've met many happy intercultural couples.
S: well, then why aren't there many East-West couples where the man is a Chinese and the woman is a Westerner 1?
N: I guess it's because the Chinese women are more attractive 2 to Western men.
S: or because they are less attractive to to Chinese men.
N: what do you mean?
S: you know, usually the woman is in her thirties and she is a left girl.
N: a left girl? What's that?
S: they're called that because they're left behind on the shelf. They're also known 3 by their three H's---high diploma 4, high salary, and high degree.
N: and they're also known as the three S's—single, stuck, and born in the seventies.
S: definitely 5! So most of these women go for Western men.
N: you have a point here, but I believe some mixed marriages are based on true love.
S: that' for sure but very few.
越来越多的中国人嫁给了外国人。
是啊，但是我挺鄙视那些和外国人在一起的女人的。
啊？为什么啊？
我觉得有些人嫁给外国人是为了钱，有些人是为了去国外定居，反正他们之间没有真爱。
也不全是吧。我见过很多幸福的跨过夫妻。
那为什么没有多少夫妻，男方是中国人，女方是外国人呢？
可能是因为中国女人对外国男人更有吸引力吧。
或者这些女人对中国男人没那么有吸引力吧。
怎么说？
这些女人大约三十多岁，是剩女。
剩女？什么意思啊？
这么说，因为他们是别人挑剩下的。她们有三高:高文凭，高工资，高学位。
还有人说她们有三难:单身，高不成低不就，出生在70年代后。
的确！所以这些人就把目标转向了外国人。
也许吧。但是有些跨国婚姻还是有真爱的。
那是，不过很少。

注:我们中文里常说的”鄙视”,就可以用很简单的"have a low opinion"来表达.同样,have a high opinion of sb/sth"的意思就是”对…评价很高,很欣赏,重视”.
I have a low opinion of that book.
我对那本书评价很低.
True love 真爱
注:true love可以指我们平时说的真爱,也可以说是”the person that you love”,所以我们经常会听到热恋中的人说,I have found my true love!

I wouldn't say that's totally true.
很多人在表达否定观点的时候,都会用"I don't think…",比如这一句就可以说"I don't think that's totally true."但是如果用"I wouldn't say",语气明显缓和了下来,而且对话两人很可能是好友的关系,在平时闲聊的时候,语气最好不要显得那样生硬.

这里的left girl,就是指现在很流行的"剩女"这个词了吧.

you have a point here是很地道的表达法,意思是"不错,你的话有理,你说的有道理".

- Bright colours are attractive to children.鲜艳的颜色对儿童有吸引力。

- He is a known artist.他是一个知名的艺术家。
- He is known both as a painter and as a statesman.他是知名的画家及政治家。
- She won her diploma in only three years.她仅用三年时间就取得了毕业文凭。
- She worked hard to earn her music diploma.她刻苦用功，以求获得音乐学位证书。
- The team will definitely lose if he doesn't play.如果他不参加比赛，这个队肯定会输。
- I shall definitely be home before six o'clock.6点以前，我一定回家。
