1. depress,沮丧的,消沉的,忧郁的。
eg:She was depressed 1 to learn of her illness.
她得知自己患病,心情十分抑郁。
2. chronic 2,（形容疾病）慢性的,(形容人)久病的;片段中提到的 chronic sicknesses指慢性病，慢性病也可说成chronic diseases,而急性病则是 acute diseases。
eg:She's developed a chronic cough.
她的咳嗽已成了一种慢性病。
3. speedy,迅速的,快的。
eg:The accusation 3 brought a speedy denial.
指责马上遭到否认。
4. recovery,恢复,复元,痊愈;要说明从（疾病或）某些不利状态中恢复过来recovery后要跟介词from。
eg:She made a quick recovery from her illness.
她很快病愈。

adj.沮丧的，抑郁的，不景气的，萧条的
- When he was depressed,he felt utterly divorced from reality.他心情沮丧时就感到完全脱离了现实。
- His mother was depressed by the sad news.这个坏消息使他的母亲意志消沉。
2 chronic
adj.(疾病)长期未愈的，慢性的；极坏的
- Famine differs from chronic malnutrition.饥荒不同于慢性营养不良。
- Chronic poisoning may lead to death from inanition.慢性中毒也可能由虚弱导致死亡。
3 accusation
n.控告，指责，谴责
- I was furious at his making such an accusation.我对他的这种责备非常气愤。
- She knew that no one would believe her accusation.她知道没人会相信她的指控。
