1. elementary school，小学。 小学也可用英语primary school表示。
eg:elementary表示基本的，初级的； primary表示最初的，主要的。
2. junior middle school，初中。初中也可说成junior high school。
eg:It happened during my first year in my junior middle school.
这件事发生在我初中一年级的时候。
3. senior middle school，高中。高中也可说成high school；high school一般是指美国的高级中学(通常为9至12年级)。
eg:Miss Li, my senior middle school English teacher, is a shining star in my life.
李老师，我高中时的英语老师，就是我生命中的一颗闪亮的星。
4. public school,公立中小学。
eg:All this presents, of course, a true threat to the public school establishment.
当然所有这一切对公立教育体制构成了真正的威胁。
5. private school,私立学校,私塾。
eg:Now the situation is changed for he is teaching at a private school in our capital.
现在这种情形已经改变了，因为他正在我们首都的一家私立学校教书。
