1. fast-growing,生长速度快的。
eg:Chinese fir is one of the fast-growing trees providing with wood in south China.
杉木是我国南方最主要的速生用材树种之一。
2. adapt,作不及物动词时表示适应，说明适应什么的话用adapt to...；如果adapt用做一个及物动词的话意思是使...适应，要说明...适应...就用adapt...to...。
eg:He tried hard to adapt himself to the new conditions.(adapt在这句中用做及物动词)
他努力使自己适应新的情况。
He has not yet adapted to the climate.（adapt在句中用作不及物动词）
他还没适应这种气候。
3. climate,气候。段中说到的climate change表示气候变化。
eg:He could not stand the terrible English climate.
他忍受不了糟糕的英国气候。
