In Kentucky, Rand Paul won the Republican primary, calling its victory a tremendous mandate 2 for the Tea Party.


2. President Barack Obama will host Mexican President Felipe Calderon and his wife tonight for Obama's second state dinner. The two are expected to discuss the Mexican drug war and illegal immigration during meetings during the day. At the president's first state dinner, a Virginia couple was able to bypass security even though they were not on the invite list.


3. Insurgents 3 have launched a pre-dawn assault today against the US-run Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan. At least ten insurgents were killed, and seven US service members were wounded in the attack. The Taliban has claimed responsibility.


4. The Thai government has declared a curfew in Bangkok as rioting and violence has spread across the capital. An army crackdown on protesters has led to a raging battleground. Thailand's Red Shirt protest leaders had surrendered to authorities, but that enraged 4 protesters who set fires and rioted around the capital.
