New Words:
ignorance n.
fate n. 命运
swiftly adv.
paradise n. 天堂
Tooth Fairy
Meaning
if you do not know about something, you do not worry about it or get affected 2 by it.
Origin
ignorance is bliss无知即福
它出自英国诗人托马斯·格雷(Thomas Gray, 1716-1771)的诗作《伊顿远眺》 (Ode on a Distant Prospect 3 of Eton College, 1747 ) :
Yet ah! Why should they know their fate?
Since sorrow never comes too late,
And happiness too swiftly flies.
Thought would destroy their paradise.
No more; where ignorance is bliss,
'Tis folly 4 to be wise.
