[00:00.00]Consider This Man 以此人为鉴
[00:05.06]When faced with your own personal or business failures,
[00:10.09]just consider this man.
[00:11.52]He tried his hand at business and he failed.
[00:14.47]So he thought,
[00:15.89]“Well, maybe I belong in politics.”
[00:18.32]He ran for the political office of State Legislature and guess what?
[00:22.80]He lost.
[00:24.00]Failed again.
[00:25.15]OK, maybe he really did belong in business!
[00:28.66]After all,
[00:29.52]one business failure doesn’t mean he can’t do it.
[00:32.27]Does it?
[00:32.93]He went back to another business venture.
[00:35.11]Again he failed—for the third time.
[00:37.41]The man really did like politics.
[00:40.02]He wanted to make a difference.
[00:41.67]So he ran for office once again.
[00:43.87]And this time he made it.
[00:45.50]He was elected to the State Legislature.
[00:47.58]But, when he ran for Speaker of the House, he lost.
[00:50.74]Rack up another failure.
[00:52.28]Congress?
[00:53.50]Maybe he could be a Congressman 1.
[00:54.90]Ahh, he succeeded—for one term.
[00:58.08]But then when he ran for the second term, he lost.
[01:01.14]Some people thought only a real loser could lose on a rerun.
[01:05.07]However, that notion didn’t stop this man.
[01:07.37]Several years later, he ran for the U.S. Senate.
[01:10.87]He failed to win.
[01:12.08]Lost again?
[01:13.51]Can’t the man take a hint?
[01:15.13]Obviously not!
[01:16.56]He actually ran for Vice 2 President of the United States.
[01:20.18]Whoops—lost again.
[01:22.03]Two years later he tried for the U.S.
[01:24.78]Senate only to lose once more.
[01:27.28]Was this man crazy?
[01:28.71]Didn’t he realize that he was a failure?
[01:30.77]Couldn’t he understand out-and-out rejection 3?
[01:33.52]The reality was clear—
[01:35.39]the people did not want the man in office.
[01:38.11]Nobody was interested in him.
[01:39.87]He was a failure.
[01:41.27]Why couldn’t he get it?
[01:43.14]But the man refused to accept the “reality.”
[01:46.08]He turned his back on rejection.
[01:48.28]He ignored failure.
[01:49.72]Nothing was going to stop him.
[01:51.66]He hung on to his dream,
[01:53.53]his strong intention and his expectations of success.
[01:56.48]He persisted.
[01:57.90]Two years after his last defeat,
[02:00.54]he ran for office once more.
[02:02.27]And this time he won, and he won big!
[02:05.68]He became the sixteenth President of the United States
[02:08.41]and one of the most famous
[02:09.83]and influential 4 people in the history of the world.
[02:12.45]So, when you’re feeling discouraged,
[02:14.75]consider this man—Abraham Lincoln—and never,
[02:18.58]never give up on your dreams.
[02:21.32]Be persistent 5!
