8月20日，中国人民银行发行中国人民抗日战争暨世界反法西斯战争胜利70周年纪念币一套。
纪念币
“纪念币”用英文commemorative coins 表示，是一个国家为纪念国际或本国的政治、历史、文化等方面的重大事件、杰出人物、 名胜古迹、珍稀动植物、体育赛事等而发行的纪念硬币，一般为精制，限量发行。Commemorative表示纪念性的，如纪念柱（commemorative column）、纪念邮票（commemorative stamp）、纪念金币（commemorative gold coin）等。
20日起，央行决定陆续发行纪念币，该套纪念币包括金银纪念币3枚、镍包钢纪念币（nickel- coated steel commemorative coin）1枚，均为中华人民共和国法定货币（legal currency）。金银纪念币正面图案均为中华人民共和国国徽（national emblem），并刊国名、年号。金银纪念币背面图案主题有所不同。
镍包钢纪念币面额1元，发行数量高达5亿枚，与现行流通人民币职能相同，与同面额人民币等值流通。金银纪念币可以在授权经销商（franchised dealers）和指定银行处购买，具有收藏价值。
除了纪念币，国家邮政局还发行了纪念邮票1套13枚、小型张（miniature sheet）1枚，纪念邮票的表现内容，为国务院公布的第一批国家级抗战纪念设施、遗址（museums and memorials）及相关历史背景。
