I was four, playing outside in the humid Kentucky air. I saw my grandfather’s truck and thought, Granddad shouldn't have to drive such an ugly truck. Then I spied 1 a gallon 2 of paint. Idea! I got a brush and painted white polka dots all over the truck. I was on the roof finishing the job when he walked up, looking as if he were in a trance.
"Angela, that's the prettiest truck I've ever seen!" Sometimes I think adults don't stop to see things through a child's eyes. He could have crushed 3 me. Instead, he lifted my little soul.
我四岁时，在肯塔基潮湿的户外玩。我看到了爷爷的车于是就想，爷爷不应该开这么丑陋的卡车。然后我发现一加仑油漆。有主意了！我拿了把刷子，在整个卡车上画满白色圆点。活干完后我站在屋顶上，这时他走过来，看起来一副很入迷的样子。
“安吉拉，那是我见过的最漂亮的卡车！”
有时我觉得大人不会停下透过孩子的眼睛看事物。他本可以打击我。相反，他提升了我的灵魂。
