Greece has condemned 1 an attack carried out by a Libyan warplane on a Greek-operated oil tanker 2 chartered by Libya's national oil company, saying it had contacted the U-N envoy 3 for Libya and the E-U about the incident.
The attack took place on Monday at the port of Derna. The Libyan military said the tanker was attacked because it took a different route and entered a military zone. But the oil company said the ship was delivering fuel to industrial facilities there. Two crew members died in the attack, but there was no leakage 4 of oil.
Derna has been controlled by Islamist militants 6 for the past two years. The Libyan military attacked it several times last year to weaken the militant 5 group there.
