Secondly 1 , "attack" can be used to express "an act of trying to kill or injure the enemy , using weapon in war". 意思是：（在战争中以武器）进攻，攻击。Look at this sentence: At down the army launch an attack on the town. 军队在拂晓之时向这座城市发起了进攻。Launch an attack on（upon） something 是“对（向）某物发起进攻”的意思。我们还可以用make, mount, deliver等词儿来表述“发起”之意。即：make an attack , mount an attack, deliver an attack. 要表述“对某物或者是某人发起进攻”，介词可以用on或者是against. Look at these two sentences: We made an attack on Japanese enemies at night yesterday. 我们在昨晚深夜袭击了日本鬼子。The commander gave us an order that we must mount an attack against them at noon. 司令下了命令了，说我们必须在中午对他们发起进攻。 Look at this typical example sentence: The patrol came under attack from all sides. 巡逻队遭到了四面八方的袭击。Under attack是遭到袭击的意思，它通常与come连用来表述这个意思，即：come under attack. 我们中文中说的"四面八方"的英文表达就是“from all sides”。我们中国的古典民乐中有一首曲子叫做《十面埋伏》，则表述为：Ambush from All Sides 。西汉史学家•司马迁《史记•项羽本纪》中有一句话：夜闻汉军四面皆楚歌”。“四面楚歌”的英文表述则是：Beseiged From All Sides。
Thirdly，“attack”means " strong criticism of somebody or something in writing or speech". 意思是；用言语或者书面强烈地批评某人或某物，也就是中文中文学词语”抨击，非难”的意思。Look at the following sentences: The school has come under attack for failing to encourage bright pupil. 这所学校因为未鼓励聪明的学生而受到非难。这个句子中，也是under attack与come连用表述“遭到非难，抨击”的意思。They started an attack against each other with sharp words. 他们开始用激烈的语言互相抨击起来了。The public made an scathing 2 attack on the goverment's policies. 民众猛烈地抨击政府的政策。
