英语课

　　take off短语是学生学习英语时经常接触的短语。在高三课本第十六单元的Reading部分中，出现了下面的句子。

　　David's career took off almost immediately when he was part of the Manchester United's Youth Team that won the FA Youth Cup in 1992.
　　就在大卫作为曼联青年队的成员于1992年赢得英国足球总会青年杯以后，他的事业几乎马上开始腾飞。
　　为了帮助同学们更好地掌握take off的用法，总结如下。
　　一、脱下(衣裳等)，解(拿)掉——remove(an item 1 of clothing)from one's body
　　1)He took off his wet shoes.他脱下了浸湿的鞋子。
　　2)He took off his hat and bowed as he passed.他经过时脱帽鞠躬。
　　二、(指飞机等)起飞--(of an aeroplane，a helicopter，etc)leave the ground and begin to fly
　　The plane took off despite the fog.尽管有雾，飞机仍照常起飞。
　　三、(指观念、产品等)突然大受欢迎;(指产品的销售量)急增
　　1)The new dictionary has really taken off.这部新词典极受欢迎。
　　2)This was the moment when Spielberg's career really took off.这就是斯比尔伯格事业腾飞的契机。
　　四、(某段时间)休假、请假、休息--(have the specified 2 period of time)as a holiday or break from work
　　1)I'm taking the next week off.我下周要休假。
　　2)When his wife was sick he took off from work.他妻子生病的时候，他休假了。
　　与take相关的短语经常在高考单选和完型填空部分出现，我们有必要了解和掌握如下短语：
　　1.take in
　　1)My aunt was taken in by the business-man's offers of marriage and stupidly gave him much of her money.(=deceive or fool sb.常用于被动语态，欺骗、蒙蔽)
　　2)He was homeless，so we took him in.(=allow sb to stay in one's home允许某人寄宿家中)
　　3)Fish take in oxygen through their gills.(=absorb sth into the body by breathing or swallowing it将某物吸入或吞入体内)
　　4)I hope you're taking in what I'm saying.(=understand or absorb sth that one hears or reads理解)
　　2.take over意为“接受、接管”
　　1)You can drive for the first half of the journey，and then I'll take over.
　　2)Mr.Jackson will take over the chairman-ship when the present chairman retires.
　　3)What is good and still useful should be taken over.This is a truth the young people should bear in mind.
　　3.take down拿下来，记下来
　　1)He reached up to the third shelf of the bookcase and took down a dictionary.
　　2)In class pupils are told to take down notes which the teacher writes on the blackboard.
