尴尬话题:剩男剩女&相亲
又到过年时节，除了吃吃喝喝一片喜庆之外，总有人会有烦恼。那就是——广大单身狗（damn single）避免不了大人对你的叨念：你有男朋友（boyfriend）?你有女朋友(girlfriend)了么？你看看你都是要奔三(push toward 30s/be getting on for 30s)的人了，怎么还单身啊?
我知道此刻的你一定是崩溃的~
我们常说的“都是奔三的人了”怎么表达更好呢？看看下面的对比：
Chinese Style —— We are all running for/to thirty.
American Style —— We are all getting on for thirty.
【对比】
run for 有“竞赛，竞选”之意，如：run for Congress（竞选国会议员），run for the presidency（竞选总统）等。
run to 意思为有……的趋势，例如run to fat有发胖的趋势。不适合在年龄等一定会发生的事情上使用。
get on for 才表示“接近”，它通常用进行时态，后面一般跟年龄或者时间，如：It's getting on for midnight（快到半夜了）等。
动词还分为短暂性动词和持续性动词，那些短暂性动词是不能使用进行时态时态的，比如arrive达到，不能说我正在到达某地
