Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches 1 in the soul,
And sings the tune 2 without the words,
And never stops at all.
The sweetest in the gale 3 is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash 4 the little bird
That kept so many warm.
I've heard it in the chilliest 5 land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity 6,
It asked a crumb 7 of me.
希望是鸟儿，
在人们心灵栖居，
唱着无词的歌儿，
永无止息。

只有猛烈的风暴，
才能威胁希望，
