Catherine太高兴了，上次面试的公司E通知她，她已经被录取了。她第一个把这件事告诉了Jenny，Jenny听说后，笑着对她说："congratulations，it's a blank slate 1."Catherine很困惑，问她是什么意思，Jenny告诉她这是祝福她，这是一个新的一页，新的开始。下面是她们的对话：
C：Jenny，I have just recieved a call telling me that I am to be hired by E company.
J: Congratulations!It's a blank slate.
C: Do you mean that I know nothing about the job by saying it's a blank slate?
J: No,honey.It means you are going to have a new start.

a blank slate本来是指“干净的黑板”，也就是未经书写的黑板，是崭新的。现在演变成“新的开始，新的一页”之意，是给予对方的鼓励，也是表达对于某事物前景的美好祝福。
