[00:02.22]Part B

[00:03.27]Listen to these 3 people talking about their jobs.

[00:07.73]Complete the table in your book.

[00:09.85]1 INTERVIEWER:What do you do,Lee?

[00:13.95]LEE:I'm a lawyer for a multinational 1 company based here in Singapore.

[00:19.67]INTERVIEWER:Do you like your job?

[00:21.26]LEE:Yes,I do.

[00:22.54]I deal with some very interesting cases,so I'm always learning something new.

[00:28.73]My colleagues here are very nice,

[00:31.29]we have attractive new offices here at Raffles 2 Place, and I am paid quite well.

[00:37.43]INTERVIEWER:Are there any bad things?

[00:39.63]LEE:Well,I do work very long hours...if something important comes up,

[00:46.39]I can be in the office until eight or nine in the evening.

[00:50.91]Because I work for a multinational company,

I have to travel to other offices quite often, and I miss my family.

I also wish I had more holiday--

I'd even be willing to earn less money and have more holiday!

INTERVIEWER:Tell me something about your job,Jan.

JAN:Well,I'm a shift supervisor 3.

INTERVIEWER:So you work shifts?

JAN:That's right,yes.

One week I work from six in the morning to two in the afternoon,

the next week from two in the afternoon to ten in the evening

and the third week from ten in the evening until six in the morning.

INTERVIEWER:That must be terrible!

JAN:Actually,I quite like it.

I don't mind getting up early and I love finishing at two in the afternoon.

And I get a lot of time off between shifts.

I also get a lot of holiday.Six weeks a year.

INTERVIEWER:That sounds wonderful!

But is there anything you don't like about your job?

JAN:Well,the pay's not too good.

3 INTERVIEWER:Ute,what do you do?

UTE:I'm a secretary.I work in R&D.

INTERVIEWER:And do you like your job?

UTE:Yes,I do.You see,I don't just sit at my desk and write reports.

I have a lot of contact with our clients, and I enjoy that.

And I have a terrific boss.

INTERVIEWER:Is there anything you don't like about your job?

UTE:Well, the journey's terrible. It takes me an hour to get to work.

And then we have flexitime.

But it's not very flexible because I'm always in minus at the end of the month.

So I have to stay in the office even if there's no work.

I'd prefer to work when there's something to do and go home when there isn't.
