The Wolf and the Shepherd

A shepherd lost the whole of his flock because of a dreadful illness．A wolf，hearing of it，came to console him．“My shepherd，”said he，“is it true that thou hast met with so severe a misfortune，and art deprived of thy whole flock？So amiable，pious a flock！I feel sorry for thee，and could shed tears of blood．”
“Many thanks，Mr．Wolf，”said the shepherd．“I see thou hast a heart brimful of compassion 1．”
“Indeed，he has，”added the shepherd's dog，“whenever he suffers in person by his neighbour's misfortune．”
