A shepherd lost the whole of his flock because of a dreadful illness.A wolf,hearing of it,came to console him.“My shepherd,”said he,“is it true that thou hast met with so severe a misfortune,and art deprived of thy whole flock?So amiable,pious a flock!I feel sorry for thee,and could shed tears of blood.”
“Many thanks,Mr.Wolf,”said the shepherd.“I see thou hast a heart brimful of compassion 1.”
“Indeed,he has,”added the shepherd's dog,“whenever he suffers in person by his neighbour's misfortune.”
