A wolf once found a boy hiding behind a haystack, trembling with fright 1.“Please don't eat me,”pleaded the boy.“I don't see why I shouldn't,”replied the wolf.“But if you can tell me three things that are really true, then will let you go.”

The boy thought for a moment Then he said:

“First,I wish you had never seen me.Second,I was stupid 2 to let you find me here and third,I hope the hunter 3 gets you tomorrow to stop you stealing all my sheep.”

“Fair enough,”said the wolf, who was not feeling hungry any-way.“I am sure those are all true from your point of view. Now run off before I change my mind and gobble you up.”

It pays to tell the truthExercises:

①Why was the boy hiding behind a haystack?

②Did the wolf let the boy go at last?
