零基础学英语：指示代词的用法详解

我们都知道，英文里，this和that可以用来表示"这个"、"那个"，它们叫做指示代词，其复数形式分别为these(这些)和those(那些)。其中近指用this和these，远指用that和those。其主要用法如下：
一、基本用法
1.作主语：This is what I want. 这就是我想要的。
2.作表语：What I want is that. 我想要的是那个。
3.作宾语：I like this. 我喜欢这个
4.作定语：I don’t like those books. 我不喜欢那些书。
二、特殊用法
1. 在电话中，向对方介绍自己时用this，询问对方时用that。
—Hello! This is Tom speaking. Who's that please? 喂，我是汤姆。请问是哪位?
—This is Jack 1. 我是杰克。
2.为了避免重复，可用that，those代替前面提到过的名词，但是this，these不可。
The grain output 2 in 2015 was much higher than that of 2014. 2015年的粮食产量比2014年高很多。
Their houses are better than those of their childhood. 他们的房子比小时候的好多了。
3.this和that有时可代替句子或句中的一部分。
He was ill. That's why he didn't come to school. 他生病了，那就是他没来学校的原因。(that作主语，代替He was ill)
除此以外，such 和the same也可以用作指示代词。
1. such作为指示代词，在句子中可用作主语、定语、表语。
作主语：Such is life! 人生便是如此!
作定语：I don’t like such books. 我不喜欢这类书。
作表语：His kindness is such that we will never forget him. 他待人那么厚道，我们永远不会忘记他。
2.the same也可以看作指示代词，在句中能作主语、定语、表语和状语：
作主语：The same is true of me. 我的情况也是如此。
作定语： The teacher said the same thing all over again. 老师把同样的话又说了一遍。
作表语： The two books are the same. 这两本书是一样的。
作状语：—Sorry, I can’t find the book for you. 不好意思，没能帮你找到书。
—Thank you all the same. 还是要谢谢你。

- I am looking for the headphone jack.我正在找寻头戴式耳机插孔。
- He lifted the car with a jack to change the flat tyre.他用千斤顶把车顶起来换下瘪轮胎。
