As the critical 72-hour rescue period ends, authorities have launched sanitation 1 works and preventive measures to avert 2 any possible outbreak of an epidemic 3 in the quake affected 4 zone.
In response to continuous high temperatures and rain since the earthquake hit Ludian county, the earthquake relief headquarters dispatched anti-chemical troops to guard against a possible epidemic or major disease. Many health clinics were also set up to treat patients and monitor the disease in affected areas.
Currently no epidemic or contagious 5 diseases have been reported in the region.
