China's former security chief Zhou Yongkang has been sentenced to life in prison for bribery 1, abuse of power and intentional 2 disclosure of state secrets. He has also been stripped of his political rights for life and will have his personal assets confiscated 3.
The Number One Intermediate People's Court in Tianjin city announced the sentence on Thursday. Zhou admitted to his guilt 4 during his trial and said he would not appeal.
Zhou Yongkang is a former Standing 5 Committee member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China's Central Committee.
