Experts from the earthquake center and earthquake administration have met to discuss what the quake zone is facing in the next few days.
"We believed that in the next few days...we need to be cautious for possible strong aftershocks of magnitude-5 to 6. Zhaotong city is located in a mountainous region, and vulnerable to secondary disasters. In addition, it’s now the rainy season in Yunnan province...and we need to be really cautious. we advise the people in the quake zone to stay away from damaged houses and to be alert for possible aftershocks." Said jiang Haikun, from China Earthquake Network Center.
