Abscond 1这个词可能我们并不熟悉，它看上去有点像absent，又有点像second，那它到底代表什么意思呢？
如果你和朋友去下馆子，因为饭菜不合意或钱包被盗等原因萌生“脚底抹油”之意，那就和abscond挂上钩了，它表示“潜逃，逃亡，躲债”。
Abscond源于拉丁语abscondere，其前缀ab（或abs）确实和absent有关，表示“离开，远离”，而动词condere则表示“放在一起，聚集（put together）”。因此，abscond就表示“拿开，隐藏（put away，hide）”了。
Abscond的本意是“（飞快逃离来）隐藏自己”，在17世纪有时也表示“把某物藏起来”。1694年，Philip Falle在他的著作An account of the isle 2 of Jersey中写道：“The King ... was forced to abscond with great danger of his Person, till he found a passage into France。"这里的意思”逃亡，躲避”就和吃饭时逃避付帐非常接近了。
