Two days after the magnitude-6.5 quake struck Ludian town in Zhaotong city, the death toll 1 has now climbed to 410. 12 are confirmed missing and more than 2,300 were injured.
Over one million people in Ludian and neighboring counties have been affected 2. A quarter of a million people have been relocated to safer places. The earthquake administration has launched its highest level emergency response.
100 rescuers from the Chinese International Search and Rescue Team have entered the most heavily-hit villages. Epidemic 3 prevention personnel have started to disinfect the affected areas.
