By 6 p.m. Tuesday, four of the five blocked main roads leading to the epicenter had been cleared, making it easier for rescuers to distribute materials and transport the injured.

Three days after the magnitude-6.5 quake struck Ludian county in Zhaotong city the death toll 1 is now 410, and is expected to rise. 12 people are confirmed as missing and more than twenty-three hundred people are injured. Over a million people in four counties have been affected 2. Nearly 230-thousand have been relocated to safer areas.

The government has launched its highest level emergency response and allocated 3 600 million yuan to Yunnan province as an emergency relief fund. 100 rescuers from the Chinese International Search and Rescue Team have entered the hardest-hit villages. Some 10-thousand troops are joining forces with local rescuers in Ludian, Qiaojia and Huize counties.

So far, the central government has sent over 33-thousand tents, 10-thousand quilts, and 60-thousand coats. Relief materials from cities including Beijing, Zhengzhou and Chengdu are expected to arrive some time today.
