 　　After a pause, sunk to a whisper, but a whisper, somehow, more penetrating 1 than the loudest cry.

　　过了一会儿，那声音又降为一种低语继续说着。可那低语却比最高亢的声音还要动人心魂。
　　"The feet of the Greater Being," it went on, and repeated the words: "The feet of the Greater Being."
　　“那更伟大的存在的脚步。”那低语继续重复，说到“那更伟大的存在的脚步”
　　The whisper almost expired. "The feet of the Greater Being are on the stairs."
　　时几乎听不见了。“那更伟大的存在的脚步已经来到楼梯上。”
　　And once more there was silence; and the expectancy 2, momentarily relaxed, was stretched again, tauter 3, tauter, almost to the tearing point.
　　又是寂静。那暂时松懈的期望又绷紧了，越来越紧，越来越紧，几乎要绷断了。
　　The feet of the Greater Being–oh, they heard thern, they heard them, coming softlydown the stairs, coming nearer and nearer down the invisible stairs.
　　更为伟大的存在的脚步——哦，他们听见了，听见了，从楼梯上款款地走下来了，从看不见的楼梯上逐渐走近了。
　　The feet of the Greater Being. And suddenly the tearing point was reached.
　　更伟大的存在的脚步突然来到了断裂点，
　　Her eyes staring, her lips parted. Morgana Rothschild sprang to her feet.
　　摩尔根娜·罗斯柴尔德瞪大眼睛，张大嘴巴，跳了起来。
　　"I hear him," she cried. "I hear him."
　　“我听见他了，”她叫道，“我听见他了。”
　　"He's coming," shouted Sarojini Engels.
　　“他来了。”萨柔妮季·恩格斯叫了起来。
　　"Yes, he's coming, I hear him." Fifi Bradlaugh and Tom Kawaguchi rose simultaneously 4 to their feet.

　　"Oh, oh, oh!" Joanna inarticulately testified.

　　The President leaned forward and, with a touch, released a delirium 5 of cymbals 6 and blown brass 7, a fever of tom-tomming.
　　组长身子前倾，按了一下，放出了一片铙钹的呓语、铜管的高腔和鼓点的急响。
　　"Oh, he's coming!" screamed Clara Deterding. "Aie!" and it was as though she were having her throat cut.

　　Feeling that it was time for him to do something, Bernard also jumped up and shouted:

　　他一个劲地挥舞着双手，跟着他们之中最激动的人大喊大叫；别人开始手舞脚踏地乱蹦；他也手舞脚蹈地乱蹦。
　　Round they went, a circular procession of dancers, each with hands on the hips 12 of the dancer preceding, round and round, shouting in unison 13, stamping to the rhythm of the music with their feet, beating it, beating it out with hands on the buttocks in front; twelve pairs of hands beating as one; as one, twelve buttocks slabbily resounding 14.

　　Twelve as one, twelve as one. "I hear Him, I hear Him coming."
　　十二个人合成了一个，十二合一了。“我听见他了，我听见他来了。”
　　The music quickened; faster beat the feet, faster, faster fell the rhythmic 15 hands.
　　音乐加快了，步伐加快了，拍手的节奏也加快了。
　　And all at once a great synthetic 16 bass 17 boomed out the words which announced the approaching atonement and final consummation of solidarity 18,
　　突然，一种合成低音嗡嗡地唱出了话语，宣布了赎罪的降临、团结的完成、十二合一的到来。
　　the coming of the Twelve-in-One, the incarnation of the Greater Being.
　　十二合一就是伟大存在的肉身体现。
　　"Orgy-porgy," it sang, while the tom-toms continued to beat their feverish 19 tattoo 20: "Orgy-porgy, Ford 21 and fun, Kiss the girls and make them One. Boys at 0ne with girls at peace; Orgy-porgy gives release."
　　那低音唱道：“欢快呀淋漓。”鼓点嘭，嘭，继续敲打出狂热的节奏：“欢快呀淋漓，快活呀福帝，亲亲大姑娘，亲得她合为一，姑娘和小伙子静静地偎依，发泄呀狂喜，痛快又淋漓。”
　　"Orgy-porgy," the dancers caught up the liturgical refrain,
　　“欢快呀淋漓，”舞蹈者跟着祷告词的叠句唱了起来，
　　"Orgy-porgy, Ford and fun, kiss the girls …"
　　“快活呀福帝，亲亲大姑娘……”
